The Award of Excellence is given to those Scholarship Holders who have achieved the most outstanding academic performance and contributed to the development of the Stipendium Hungaricum community. The award was presented by Miklós Lengyel, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Check out our interview with Pham Ha Phuong from Vietnam.
What made you choose Hungary? What are your impressions so far?
I always wanted to visit Hungary because my favourite teacher used to study here and always talked so passionately about the country and the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship. Also, Hungary has a prime location in the center of Europe which makes it easier to mobile and travel across countries in the Schengen groups. That is a great point for a travel-holic like me. I have already stayed in Hungary for 1,5 years and I really like my current life here. The people are nice, the country is safe, the food is tasty and my study program is interesting. I started to feel Hungary was like home.
What do you think about Hungarian tertiary education and research? Why is it competitive?
Hungarian education has a well-earned international reputation. Diplomas and Degrees granted by Hungary are accepted worldwide. Our professors are very profound and experienced. All of them are currently working in that field and at the same time teach us at school about those areas, so the knowledge is really up-to-date and practical. What is more, Hungary is a diverse and multicultural nation; students who study here can acquire the necessary skills which can be applied in every kind of working environment.
How can Stipendium Hungaricum contribute to being successful in the labour market?
I believe the scholarship will have a significant impact on my future career. It helps me grow as a global citizen and enhance my abilities to access, assess, adapt and apply knowledge for my future job, to think independently to exercise appropriate judgment, and to collaborate effectively with other counterparts regardless of race or nationality.
What was your biggest motivation when applying for the Stipendium Hungaricum Excellence Award?
My biggest motivation when applying for the Award is recognition for myself for all the efforts and energy I have put in for over a year. Also, I’m aware the duties call for a Stipendium Hungaricum ambassador, who will be able to identify and introduce the scholarship programme through various activities and events, marketing campaigns, and social media. I want to inspire prospective scholarship holders about my study and life journey here in this beautiful country.
What would you advise for those who are planning to apply for the scholarship?
If I have to give one word about studying in Hungary, it would definitely be: “AWESOME”. I always believe that the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship is a rollercoaster of opportunities and experiences which changed me for the better in ways I may have never noticed. So, if you are searching for studying opportunities and exciting experiences in a new country, Hungary is an amazing choice. Don’t hesitate to apply for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship. Lastly, I wish you success in pursuing your dream of getting the scholarship and having a great studying abroad experience like me. See you in Hungary.
