About the presenter
Anna Brjezovskaia is pursuing her MA degree at Eötvös Loránd University in the field of International Relations (IR), with a specialization in security studies. She is an International Relations Expert with her BA from ELTE University. At the moment Anna is an ELTE University International Student Ambassador and Teaching Assistant. Besides, she is a Leading Mentor at the Faculty of Social Sciences. She is also a member of the European Democracy Youth Network (EDYN).
Her previous work experiences include roles as an intern at the Embassy of Georgia to Hungary, Institute for Cultural Relations Policy (ICRP), Terrorism Research Center (TRC), Forbes Woman Georgia, Stipendium Hungaricum Mentor Network (HOOK), American Councils for International Education and many more. Her academic interests include but are not limited to the following list – security studies, diplomacy, foreign policy, the geopolitics of Eastern Europe and the US, migration, and terrorism.
Abstract of the webinar
The webinar is going to discuss what is International Relations as a discipline of social sciences. The effectiveness with which a government conducts international relations with its neighbours and trade partners has an impact on national employment, import tariffs, mobilization into the army, security, cultural interactions and activities, travel, tourism, and other factors. All of these elements have an impact on the average person’s life in a nation or region. The presentation will address the main components of IR, how to understand it and what parallels we can make to our daily lives.
