On 22 October the new Stipendium Hungaricum students had the chance to understand more about Hungary, Hungarian history, culture and life here in general. The freshmen were welcomed with the encouraging and welcoming words from Miklós Lengyel, representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. After the speech, two sophomore Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship grantees from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music displayed their talent with the violin and amazed their audience. After the music, Tayssir Khalfallah from the Budapest Business School and Anas Hawary from the Széchenyi István University spoke about living and studying in Hungary. They spoke about the challenges of moving to a completely different country and described passionately the rewarding discovery of an entirely new lifestyle in Hungary. At the end of the celebration, we surprised the students with a traditional Hungarian folk music and dance production which achieved a smashing success.
We hope that our new Stipendium Hungaricum students had a great time at the Welcome Reception and they feel a bit more prepared for the challenges ahead of them. We cannot wait to see these wonderful young people again – but until then: welcome to Hungary!
