The Stipendium Hungaricum Mentor Network is looking to appoint 300 mentors from 14 institutions for semesters of 2020 and 2021. Interested? Read on to find out more! If you have outstanding problem solving skills and excellent communication skills in English, enjoy helping foreigners with integration and would like to participate in organising community, cultural and tourism programmes on a regular basis, you might just be right for the position! Among other benefits, the mentorship offers professional training, allowances and a chance to practice English as a working language.

Mentor roles and responsibilities

Mentors are sophomore or senior students who go to the same university and help the institutional integration of their mentees. Before your mentees’ arrival in Hungary, as a mentor you will have to get in touch with them and – when needed – provide assistance in finding accommodation.

Your tasks include continually staying in touch with your mentees and informing them about any current institutional competitions and scholarships, as well as about the institutional academic system. It is also the mentors’ task to assist the mentees in integrating to university life.

Mentors may work in groups and help 15 mentees maximum at the same time, which they receive allowances for. As a mentor, you will be responsible for your position for one academic year – during which you are required to have student’s status.

Mentors are also responsible for keeping in touch with the institution’s leading mentor, for satisfying their administrative tasks and for giving monthly written records on their tasks. You will be required to do your utmost and be present on trainings and on country image building programmes organised by the management of the mentor network.

How to apply?

Deadline for applications is 31 May 2020 (Sunday) 17:00. Send your CV and a letter of motivation to shmh@hook.hu. If you have any questions, ask away by email (shmh@hook.hu).
