I came to Hungary expecting a lot and thankfully I received more than I wished for. These handful of years were a great adventure on so many levels and here I’ll be talking about the amazing life I had during these past years as a Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holder.
From the beginning, I had the chance to study in Veszprém. If you like nature, peace of mind, and great company, then Veszprém is a great place for you. I got so attached to the city and its beautiful forest where you might go for a run, picnic with friends, or enjoy the fresh air. You can also see the castle, the zoo, and the very beautiful lake Balaton. After you’ve seen the city, the University offers many cultural, amusement, and sports events, as well as the chance to participate in many kinds of sports. I had an intelligent, thoughtful, and fun professor from Hungary and great minds from other countries whom I’m honoured to have and will be forever grateful for the knowledge and experience I gained from them. The university gave me the opportunity to attend and participate in conferences, publish my articles in local and international journals, and offer internships in different fields.
I would say that I’m kind of a social person and being in Hungary gives you a great opportunity to meet and befriend international students and Hungarians from all around the world where we had lots of fun. I had the honour and the pleasure of becoming one of HÖOK mentors. I was responsible for overseeing the progress of newcomers to the University of Pannonia, organizing events, and facilitating and helping with academic matters such as communication between the students and the professors and other documentation.
Throughout my stay in Hungary, I got to visit many other cities in Hungary and travel to other countries around such as Croatia, Austria, Greece, Slovakia, and Switzerland with joyful friends I met in Hungary and other countries. I captured lots of happy moments and enjoyed delightful cuisines and mesmerizing architecture.
When I started my PhD journey, I had the privilege of becoming DOSz Ambassador for Jordanian students with the Association of Hungarian DLA and PhD Candidates (DOSz). I had meetings with the Jordanian consul and Jordanian PhD students in Hungary to discuss future projects and concerns and assist them with their studies. Moreover, I provided support in organizing meetings and workshops and follow-up and promoting events. I also participated in many events at the advertising centre of the University of Pannonia, such as live interview videos to talk about the level of education, facilities, and lifestyle of the students at the university as well as a video advertising Jordan and publishing content about the cultural sights in it
I’d like to say in the end that Stipendium Hungaricum is a great choice to pursue a better academic career and to have a lifetime experience. I shared parts of my personal experience with you through my eyes, hopefully, I didn’t bore you and I would love to see more newcomers every semester so we could share unforgettable moments.
