Tuition-free education
The Stipendium Hungaricum program is tailored for ambitious international students with outstanding academic achievements. As a scholarship recipient, you’ll have the freedom to concentrate on your studies without the burden of tuition fees, as all costs will be covered for the duration of your university program.
Monthly Stipend
One of the standout features of this scholarship is the monthly stipend. For non-degree programs, bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, or postgraduate specialist training courses, you can receive a monthly amount of HUF 43,700 (approximately EUR 110) to help cover living expenses in Hungary, for 12 months a year, until you complete your studies. For doctoral-level applicants, the monthly scholarship amount is HUF 140,000 (approximately EUR 350) for the first phase (4 semesters), and HUF 180,000 (approximately EUR 450) for the second phase (4 semesters), also for 12 months a year until the completion of your studies.
Accommodation contribution
Regardless of your study level, the scholarship offers either free dormitory placement or an accommodation contribution of HUF 40,000 per month for the entire scholarship period. Please keep in mind that if you rent an apartment, this amount may not fully cover your rental expenses, so budgeting will be essential.
Medical insurance
Lastly, the scholarship covers your healthcare needs in line with Hungarian legislation (Act CXXII of 2019 on Entitlements to Social Security Benefits and Funding These Services). It offers supplementary medical insurance up to HUF 65,000 (approximately EUR 160) per year, ensuring you have access to essential healthcare services during your studies.
It’s important to note that while the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship provides valuable financial support, it may not cover all your living expenses.
